  • my cat has a lump on her nipple. What should I do?

My 11 year old spayed cat has a small (vet said 4-5mm) lump under one of her nipples. Obviously i'm going to get it taken care of but i am trying to figure out the best course of action. Do I let them put her under and remove the lump and bipsy it before proceeding (this is what my vet wants to do. I go to banfield who are notorious rip-off artists for anything other than preventative care) to see if it is malignant and go from there, have them go ahead and do a masectomy, or first get x-rays to make sure her lungs and stuff are good. Obviously i'd like to have my cat cut open as few times as possible, but i also would like those times to be as minor as possible...please advise

  • I lied to my boss. Will I get in trouble?

So, I clocked out and stayed a little late to finish some paperwork. My boss called and I answered the phone. I didn't want to get in trouble for working off the clock, so my boss said "did you open or close today?" (this was undetermined which i would do when I left yesterday.) so I said "I close" and she says "how was opening person?" I said" fine, they left."

Then I felt bad after i got off the phone with her, but called her back like 10 minutes later and said. " I'm sorry. I am a crazy person and I don't know why I just lied to you. I opened but I didn't want to get in trouble for staying late and working off the clock." She said "well thanks for calling and letting me know. I was wondering why you didn't open." and I said" yeah, i don't know what i was thinking."

Do you think I will get in trouble. I am usually one of the best, most well liked employees by my boss and she has been pushing to promote me.....hopefully I didn't screw that up.

  • Is Cushing's Disease in rodents contagious?

I am asking this because we have gotten several hamsters with incurable mites in...and I was, and I was reading how Cushing's disease is becoming more common in hamsters....and after looking at pictures, this might be a real possibility. Typically we try to let any ill animals live out their lives peacefully and happily with appropriate medication, but I understand that Cushing's has no cure. If it is contagious we may have to euthanise these hamsters (of course after confirming that it is indeed Cushing's if possible by the vet) if it is contagious to prevent it from spreading.

    Please advise

  • Does my resume need a cover letter at an interview?

If I am interviewing at a different location of my current company for a promotion ( I was recommended by my boss) I assume I should take an updated resume since I have never met the person who will be interviewing me. Is a cover letter necessary or are they for obtaining interviews typically.

  • My green cheek conure had a seizure and died. Could I have done anything?

I am totally stressed out. My conure is usually in a room with the door shut off from my cats, but I guess it did not close tightly enough this morning. From the other room I heard him screaching, so i ran in to see what was wrong. My cat had opened the cage (this is why he was in a seperate room. It is a big A&E cage with the little circle that just flips around, and gomer (the cat) had figured it out almost immediately after I bought it. ) and gotten Boyd (the GCC) by the tail and was swinging him around trying to get him while boyd was flapping and running his head into stuff. I got Boyd back after about 1.5 minutes of fighting with Gomer. He looked unscathed other than a few missing tail feathers, exhaustion, and heavy breathing. I decided to let him relax in his cage awhile and calm down since i figured gomer had just stressed and worn him out.. About 15 minutes later i heard shreaking again, this time I opened the door to the room he is in and he was flapping on his back in the bottom of the cage screaming and having a seizure. I picked him up while he was seizing and carried him to the kitchen with me to get the vets number and the phone, but by the time he was done, it was too late.

Why was he okay for a few minutes first? I have never had anything have a seizure before. I am so freaked out and upset. He was only like 6 months old. Was there anything i could have done to help him while he was seizing. I didn't know if I should have maybe run water on him or something to shock him out of having a seizure. If I had known Gomer had hurt him seriously in any way, I would have taken him to the vet immediately. I am so upset at myself for not doing it. I thought he might just need to calm down.

I guess no more birds for me. Now I have to hear the "I told you so" speech from my husband about birds and cats when he gets home, I guess.

  • What temperatures are okay for conures?

We have a patio with glass windows and screens. I typically leave the windows open to the screens. My Yellow-sided Green cheek has a big cage on wheels. I was wondering if he would enjoy it is I wheeled his cage onto the patio on summer days or if he would be too hot. I live near Atlanta, GA

  • Are Paper Pellets okay for bird bedding/litter?

I hate how paper towels and newspaper looks, so I was wondering if Yesterday's News paper litter pellets (they make them for small animals and cats) are okay for birds. If not, I have been using eco-bedding which I guess I will stick with since it looks nicer than newspapers or bags or a sheet of brown paper. It is okay right? I would just prefer pelleted paper but don't know if there is a reason no one carries ones for birds.

  • How do you make sure someone is not a prevert photographer?

SO I helped a firend at this wedding planning event and now a photographer who was there wants to take headshots and stuff for me TFP. He apparently want to do like a whole series of photos of me because he likes my facial features. I have never modeled and I watched a lot of horror films. How do I know this guy is not a perv or trying to kill me or something. It seems like a fun thing to do and i would like to have some nice pictures but not at the risk of my life. Help.
