I completely agree with Athene. Thyroid hormones affect every organ and tissue in human body - heart, brain and nervous system, skin, kidney, muscles, etc. The weight loss is only a very small part of the global effect of thyroxine on your body. Please talk to your doctor, you may need a slow decrease in dose rather than aburpt discontinuation.

Taking thyroid like this will almost certainly make you develop a thyroid deficiency so you will need the tablets for life. Once your thyroid stops making its own thyroid andyou are on tablets, you are never the same - you have a constant battle with obesity and tiredness. Also, taking thyroid that you do not need puts you at an exceptionally high risk of heart attack. The does you are on is very high.

So, the answer to how long you can keep doing this is, you may be about to lose your life or else you may find yourself doing it for the rest of your life.

Oh, so a mild heart attack is OK? Just not a serious one?
