What's causing a transmission problem with my 2003 Honda Accord?

I have a 2003 Honda Accord EX V6 sedan with the five-speed automatic transmission. My car has developed a shifting problem. Sometimes it shifts very roughly. Other times it doesn't shift at all, or the engine revs and it feels like it can't find the gear. Tonight the check engine light came on and the D4 light started blinking, but I haven't had a chance to get it scanned yet to find out what the trouble codes are.

The best way to be sure of any transmission issue is to have a qualified transmission mechanic diagnose the problem. If your D4 light is flashing, you definitely have a tranny issue. To continue to drive it, will further damage it.

I've found that this site doesn't help much with stuff like that. The only real thing you can do is take it into a garage and have them run the codes for you and have a real mechanic look because it's hard to know without actually being there.

You could need a number of things like a fluid change/flush, a sensor could cause it and so could a sticky valve

    GOod luck!

How does the transmission fluid get into the radiator of a 2003 Honda Accord 3.0...I replaced the radiator

Remove the solenoids that are on top of the transmission. They have small filters in them that need to be cleaned. Get new gaskets from Honda before doing this.
