Is it less sinful to be an atheist or a Christian without faith?

If you are an atheist you admit you do not believe in God, if you are a Christian without faith you are lying to both yourself and God. Which is worse?

Sin is meaningless to an atheist. Ethics and morality would be more appropriate when one speak of atheism, for many of them have high ethical and moral values.

A christian without faith would make him/her a christian without faith, nothing more and nothing less. Sin is just some action ( anger, covetousness, envy, gluttony, lust, pride, and sloth) defined by the church, a Christian without faith, but has not violated the 'sin edicts' would still be sinless. Sin by the definition of the Old testament would be someone who hates God or in defiance of Him. But the relationship with God is a contract (covenant), which applies to Jews only and so it would not be applicable to Christian. So in the end, sin has nothing to do with faith, and so it is also meaningless when it is applied to Christian without faith.

God has a standard which does not accommodate the law of relativity you are talking about. The question is whether a person has faith in God and what He has done for him. His being truthful about his position is redundant in any other case. God sees the heart and doesn't care about appearences. You can be most unconventional and still have faith in God. Nobody may see it but He does. Thats what matters.

  • Well, pretending to be a Christian is worse then being a Atheist, but sometimes it happens that if you are pretending to do something, it has a lot of effect on you and you really do become a Christian, but its really wrong to pose as a religious person, just for people.

I don't get it. If you are a Christian without faith, what would you tell yourself during these lies to yourself? Why would you bother lying to a god you don't have faith in?

i don't hate atheists, and it fairly is unhappy that different Christians do. no person would desire to hate yet another. it fairly is the Christians like that that provide something human beings a foul call. those are the immature Christians who probable have not even study their bibles. yet multiple Atheists are not precisely the nicest human beings the two. exceedingly around here. D: yet there are people who're good. And good is what Christians would desire to aspire to be. I hate it that different so stated as Christians destroy what real Christianity would desire to be! yet it fairly is the way the international works... the Bible DOES say that the international will hate us.

Haha that is a good question. I really dont think there is a difference. there are tons-millions of people that claim they are christian but every day they judge people (prop 8). they take the bible WAY too literally and they think its all true. but its really not. and they also think that their job is to "save" people from "hell" (which, by the way, the word hell is not mentioned in the bible once) when actually jesus already saved us when he died on the cross and he died for everyone- not just those that believe in him. these people are hurting, not helping. i call myself christian but i dont study the bible every night, but rather i live my life through what the bible tells me i should do such as do unto others etc... but even I sin so I honestly think we are all going to end up in the same place if we repent. but i dont think its a sin not to believe in God.

Sin, like all gods, doesn't exist.
