Why can't firecrackers be banned in the Philippines?

'Cracker injuries climb to 155. After reading headlines from various newspapers, 70% of victims of firecrackers are children below 13 years old. why can't we follow other countries and 'ban' firecrackers here?

for years, i've wondered why firecrackers can't be banned everywhere, except when presented by licensed professionals under the safest, holiday only conditions.

when i lived in the city, neighbors shot firecrackers on their lawns, and we held our breath for the fire hazard. annually there seem to be reports of injuries when most kinds of "pyrotechnics" are in wrong places and inexperienced hands. if anything, let's have"sparklers" only for public use! what a relief that could be.

a new law would help. thanx for bringing this up!!!!

Source(s): from my own "neighborhood" experiences; from past news of injured kids/adults through the years.
