Gotta love the helpful answers you get from yahoo answers...

Anyway 2 red lights have to do with the console overheating. It's usually a thermal connection between the processor die and the heatsink. There's a thermal compound that helps mate the 2 surfaces so it tranfers heat from one to the other. Obviously it's not doing it's job and the console is overheating.

You'll need to take the xbox apart and clean off the processor dies. I personally use contact cleaner for this, scrape all you can away with a hard end of a qtip, then use contact cleaner to get both the heatsinks and the processor dies nice and clean. Then reapply your thermal compound and test the xbox.

Everything should work and your fans should level out and not go to full power. If it still overheats after cleaning and reapplying thermal compound then you need a professional reflow which can be costly.

Here's a link to a tutorial on how to take apart the xbox and remove the xclamps.

You don't need to do the part with ovrerheating the console, or even drilling and replacing the xclamps with nuts and bolts. Just remove the xclamps, clean the processor dies, clean the heatsinks, reapply thermal compound and then reinstall the heatsink with the xclamp and test it all out.

Anyway try to reapply thermal compound and if that doesn't work let me know. You can contact me via my yahoo answers if you have any questions.

well you first have to unpug it, then carry it up to the highest room in your house. open the window, and drop the xbox down. now run down the stairs and plug it back in within 10 seconds. Problem Solved.

check if all your cables are connected, specifically the power cables, and you can also open up ur xbox with a screw driver and clean it out.
