My pets are in EXTREMELY bad condition, but I can NOT make it any better, what should I do?

I like animals VERY MUCH. So I bought HAMSTERS and GUINEA PIGS, but as I learn more and more about these pets, I discovered that they are not perfect or at least good for me. Here are the problems:

1. I live in the Philippines (South East Asia). This is an EXTREMELY BAD country. ALL pet stores here are EXTREMELY BAD-QUALITY and NONE are good-quality. There are ***ABSOLUTELY NO VETERINARIANS*** here. It's EXTREMELY DIRTY and POLLUTED here. Almost all people (except for me and my relatives!!!) here are poor, dumb, and do not 'care about'/'know anything about' about pets (those people are like those from Africa or India!!!).

2. Our house is EXTREMELY small, dirty, and bad. (Total size: Approximately 50 ft. long, 25 ft. wide; Indoor size: Approximately 25 ft. long, 20 ft. wide.) So my pets are in the garage (the garage has no door) and it's EXTREMELY dirty, dangerous and unhealthy (for pets), hot, and noisy there. It's so small that even if we clean it, it gets dirty after some time.

Our house was built more than 15 to 20 years ago. It was originally owned by my uncle and aunt, but now that they moved to America, they gave it to us (there is a total of 6 people in our house: Me [1], my Father [2], my Mother [3], my sister [4], plus 2 maids [6]).

Our house is also unsafe. The barbed wires on the fence and gate could easily be removed. The fence is made of weak cement and it can easily be destroyed. There are lots of thieves and drunk people.

3. We are busy VERY often. And ***my parents do NOT want to use much money just for pets.*** The nearest high-quality pet store takes 5 tiring hours of car ride, and it will be very tiring to go there. We can only go there maybe once or twice a month. There are nearer/closer pet stores (the nearest one takes only less than a minute of care ride, while some others will take roughly 1.2 hours), but they are EXTREMELY BAD-QUALITY.

4. Almost all people (except for me and my relatives!) in our country 'do not know much'/'do not care about' pets. They keep pets but they do not even know how to take care of these animals properly. They are abusing/neglecting/abandoning/being cruel to pets. They're careless, dumb, and harsh. They think pets are just things for entertainment -- WRONG!!! -- Pets are living animals and must be respected and given a healthy, happy and if possible, perfect life!

NOTE: Please NO jokes, mean, rude, hateful, unnecessary, or bad answers, or else I will Report you. Thank you very much for understanding.

It's not as bad as it seems...

You bought your pets from you country and so they are already used to living in such conditions.

It doesn't really matter how the environment is around the cage just as long as their cage itself and their accessories and bedding are clean it doesn't matter if the house is dirty or falling down like you say.

Where I live we are spoiled with the opportuinity to have so much clean land and buildings and all in all everything. To have quality stores 5 minutes away and sturdy homes. So people who live in our conditions tend to go overboard with how much quality care a pet needs.... Mainly just because we can :/

An animal is an animal, they have the ability to adapt, definitely do not care about cleanliness as much as we do and all in all couldn't care less about their surrounding outside their cage, in the wild there are no vets so a pet hamster doesn't expect to go to a vet when he/she is sick. With an animal, death is a normal thing and they do not fight it being in the wild and still even when they are domesticated.

I am sure you are offering the best care you can.... Like I say alot of people tend to care "too much" and we forget that they are still animals...natural instinct never leaves them in all rodents....that instinct is always there.

Like I say just worry about keeping their cage clean, their food and water fresh and clean as well and they will be very happy! You are doing good already I am sure they are already very happy.

As I’ve been living in the Philippines with many different pets for a couple of decades, I really can’t understand your comment that there are ***ABSOLUTELY NO VETERINARIANS***. Although they do not all provide the same level of service as a western vet (e.g. major equipment, out of office hours home calls, etc), there are still many around (at least 6 multi-vet surgeries that I know of in my local town). But of course, vets cost money which is a big drain on low-income Filipino families.

In regard to feeding, you should have no problem obtaining good foods for Guinea Pigs and hamsters - these foods are available in most shopping markets (e.g. SM, Robinsons, Ayala). If these stores are a long way from you, you should be able to get the same feeds, cheaper, at the many local grain shops – they have foods suitable for parrots and many small animals (including dogs, cats – and of course fighting chickens).

To keep your cages clean, visit one of the many small woodworking shops there are all over. Every time they make a door frame or any other wooden thing, they have piles of fresh wood shavings and sawdust. I found they are happy to give it away as they just burn it to get rid of it.

Dog Lover gave quite a few just right information, and i'm going to provide you with some more: execs high-quality with children lively protective-but now not overly funny shrewd like to cuddle easy Grooming & Bathing Cons need at least an hour of tough undertaking a day (not for a couch potato) stubborn need to be proficient Firmly or will try and run household must be socialized Crate training is pleasant will attempt to counter surf (again traing) coaching is essential considering the fact that these are tremendous, strong dogs, if not trained they're going to bounce and knock humans down, counter surf, pull you when on a lead, and probably pressure you nuts. Chewers- you have to furnish chunk toys specifically with a pup. I recommend in the event you get one discover a young grownup (1-3 yrs) at a rescue. I rescued each of mine and they already had some training advert were not chewing as badly as a pup. They bonded to my kids, my husband, and myself very rapidly. There are tons of Boxers in rescues all over since numerous individuals get them without realizing how much vigour they have got, how so much they chew, and how rough headed they are able to be. When you've got one safely expert they make a best pet and addition to any loved ones, but untraied they're a disaster. Please if you happen to get one have money to hire a excellent trainer experienced in Bully Breeds if you are no longer.

Since those animals were born in your country they have adpated. YOUr in a different climate than we are.

There are ways of making sure your pets are healthy, by providing them with the proper food and water and supplements,

Guinea pigs need vitamin c and hay constantly along with there pellets and some salads a couple of times of week.

If you are doing all of this and maintaining there living areas clean your animals should be quite healthy. Now if they are ill when you purchase them from a pet store, they can always regain there health by feeding them properly.. i know because i have purchased sick animals before, but if you provide them with there basic needs they will thrive. especially rodents

    Thats a tough jiffy there.

Best you can do is contact some international veterinarian or pet specialist or look for more ideas online.

Or, ultimately, if you cant take care of them, sell them to a home that can take care of them. It might be sad that there gone, but its better them living fresh in an area that can take care of them than let them die.

Why did you get the pets then? You're saying that everyone else is a bad owner but you have all your animals living in an unsafe condition.
