Allergic to pretty much all animal furs except for rats?

I currently have a dog, ferret and rats and all but the rats give me a hayfever like reaction. I know I get the same reaction from cats and probably other furry animals, but never rats. I usually need to have the fur touch my neck from either hugging the animal or having its fur stick to my clothes and irritate the skin around my neck to get itchy eyes/skin/ears/throat.

Is there a reason why rats would not affect me? They run around near my face all the time. Could it be due to their cleanliness?

And I get these reactions from pollen and dust so could hayfever tablets help me when I get the reaction from animal fur?

Rats don't bother my allergies for some reason either. Allergies most often stem from the saliva of the animal, which of course they get all over their hair and skin by licking it. It could be that rats have different saliva because they do not naturally eat the same things as ferrets, dogs, and cats. The allergy medicine you take for pollen should also work for animal allergies. You should take it every day at the same time for it to be most effective.
