Is there a way not to kill Paarthurnax on Skyrim?
I've just been given the 'Paarthurnax' quest by Delphine (telling me to kill Paarthurnax, obviously) and I do /not/ want to kill him. Is there a way to avoid killing him without the quest remaining incomplete for eternity?

Of course you can choose not to kill him.
This quest is purely optional. In order to continue Blades storyline, it must be completed before the conclusion of the Main Quest. However, doing so will prevent any further communication with the Greybeards, including the radiant quest to locate Words of Power. If you decide not to kill Paarthurnax, however, you receive a different conclusion to the main storyline.
I mean screw the Blades. They hid for God knows how long in caves like cavemen and now when they come back (only 2 members remaining of course) they just tell me to kill Paarthurnax, who repented and did a LOT more to help the civilization than those losers? No siree.
Also, they are major losers. They didn't manage to prevent ANY emperor assassination during the history of the Elder Scrolls games.
Screw them, Paarthurnax rules! :D

Talk to the Grey Beards and tell them what she has asked you to do (you can talk to Paarthurnax directly about this too-not sure) and I think if you choose not to, it ends the quest. However, not killing him ends your relationship with the Blades. You will no longer be able to recruit more members for the Blades (and I think if you already have you will not be able to have them as followers).
