Recommendations for books or films about the empires that emerged after the death of Alexander the Great?

I know some names: Seleucid, Parthian, Ptolemic, and I assume Carthage and Rome were on the rise, but I'm looking for something that tells what happened between the Hellenistic states in the Mediterranean and Asia minor after Alexander died. I'm looking for ancient or modern sources. Can you help?

    R. Waterfield - 'Dividing the Spoils - The War for Alexander the Great's Empire'

it's a very recent book,so is only available in hardback at the moment.

Ancient sources: These were all written long after, but some material seems to have been drawn from primary source accounts since lost.

Diodorus Siculus - ' Bibliotheca Historica'

Arrian - 'Anabasis of Alexander' contains some info on the Diadochi Wars

Curtius Rufus - 'History of Alexander the Great' - as for Arrian supra.

I'll give you a not very good answer since you haven't received much help.

Funeral Games a novel by Mary Renault. I have read it. You should at least get the flavor of the times anyway.
