With Harvard referencing style, which one of these is correct?

Lee, R. B. 1984, The Dobe Ju/’hoansi, 4th edn. Wadsworth Cengage Learning, Belmont, USA

Lee, R. B. 2013, The Dobe Ju/’hoansi, 4th edn. Wadsworth Cengage Learning, Belmont, USA

i.e. 1984 was the original date of publication (first edition), and 2013 is the fourth edition. I actually did the reading from the 4th edition and not the first. I'm pretty sure nothing had changed except Lee added another chapter. Which one do I put? And which date do I put whilst in-text referencing?

Thanks! :)

The second one is correct. If you used the 2013 edition then that is the one you reference - the logic behind this is that if someone wanted to check your reference, they would then know which edition to look in. If you put '1984' the page numbers and everything would be wrong.

So this one is correct :)

Lee, R. B. 2013, The Dobe Ju/’hoansi, 4th edn. Wadsworth Cengage Learning, Belmont, USA

    Within your text, use 2013.

    If directly quoting then

Lee (2013) stated that "oranges are a fruit" (p.1)

Or "Oranges are a fruit" (Lee 2013, p.1)
