Which one is correct?

When God was telling Adam and Eve the punishment if they disobeyed Him which of the following did He tell them?

A. Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

B. Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely be tortured for all eternity.

C. Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely eat worms for breakfast.

D. Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely have horrendous gas.

Also there seems to be something wrong with this Bible verse. Can any kind soul tell me what it is?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is eternal life in never ending torture; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

You've been doing your homework. "A." You are exactly right. There is no such thing as eternal life in never ending torture; it wouldn't even be fair, and it wouldn't actually be death, which is what Romans 6:23 ACTUALLY says the wages of sin is.

That understanding came from pagan "converts" into Christianity. It's not a biblical teaching, and hell/sheol/hades just means "grave."

According to the Bible, when we die, our breath returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7, Job 14:10&12, Psalms 146:4) and our bodies return to the dust of the earth (Genesis 3:19). Job 27:3 reveals what this breath/spirit is.

The dead neither know nor feel anything (Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, Psalms 115:17, Psalms 6:5, Job 7:9-10, Job 14:21, Ecclesiastes 9:10).

Death is sleep (John 11, 2 Kings 15:22, Daniel 12:13, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 Corinthians 15:50-58). There can be no resurrection without a death.

The soul, according to Genesis 2:7 it the breath of life (given by God) + the dust of the earth (to which we return after death, Gen 3:19).

The parable of Lazarus and the rich man is just that: a parable. It's not a true story. The people to whom He was speaking didn't even believe in an afterlife OR a resurrection. If the dead know nothing, then they certainly can't communicate.

    In other words: nothing happens.

There is fire mentioned in Revelation 20:9 that comes down from heaven and destroys the wicked who try to rebel against God with Satan at the great white throne judgment. This is the second death, and they never live again (see Revelation 21:8). The fire doesn't literally last forever; it's impossible to destroy someone by fire and yet have them burning alive for all eternity. Isaiah 65:17 says that the former shall NOT be remembered, so if "the former" is still on earth burning alive for all eternity, how would it be possible to not be remembered?

This video explains where that idea originated and how it crept into the church -->

A.) is correct. Bible didnt mean that they would die on the spot but that their body's one day would die. If they never ate from the tree they would have lived in the garden of Eden forever, no death. But they did eat from the garden so their bodies like everyone else's body eventually dies... Also Romans 6:23 say wages of sin is death. Just like when Adam and Eve ate from the garden their disobedience (sin) causing all man kind to die a physical death some day, but if accepting Jesus Christ as our savour we will have eternal life with him in heaven..

All this is associated with a false premise you hold, and that is how one defines "death". The Scriptural definition of death is "separation from God". When Adam and Eve ate that fruit, they were separated from God. If one sins, they are separated from God.
