Does anyone still believe in the idea of marriage?

Of course, and I do, but not for the same reasons that our ancestors do.

Marriage is a unity of love, of two people coming together and becoming one for the rest of their lives. That is what is important. It is not about they money or the religion of whatever else it is that makes people do it. It is about finding the person you love and wanting them until you die.

Untold millions still believe not only in the "idea" of marriage but also in the reality of it. And millions of people get married every year. Millions of people stay married every year too. Long held and proven advantageous for thousands of years.... a decade of disrespect by a minority of people in America is unlikely to tank it!

Yes...many people do. Sadly though, most people would rather do things simpler and not fully committed. Or think that if it doesn't work out, they can get a divorce and that is that. Everyday, less and less people believe in a lasting and strong marriage where people get married for love and work on it every day.

I would like to know how living together is acceptable nowadays yet marriage is deemed unnecessary. If there is no difference then why are couples so reluctant to commit legally and officially to one another ?

Yes I believe it should not be abused. It should be done between two people whom love each other very much. I don't believe you should rush into it or try to get out of it without trying to mend what is broken.

TRUE MARRIAGES, between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN? YES! A few GOOD people still do believe in it!

I didn't, until I got married. Now it's the greatest institution ever! I love my husband!
