is surgery necessary? I'm a little scared...?

So after weeks of searching around on Google, I felt the need that I had to tell my mom about my 'private' situation. I told her I had an extreme curvature (literally almost 90º, don't ask how please) and that my foreskin wasn't pulling back and I'm almost 20. She told me the foreskin not pulling back is normal but the extreme curvature was not and that I should have told her earlier. Problem was, I thought it was normal until recently. So now I'm gonna go see a family doctor first and either of us will ask him to recommend a urologist. What I want to know right now is, will I need to go through surgery as I know that this amount of curvature is not normal at all or will those adjustment tools be enough? I'm honestly really scared that I'll need surgery but I'm hoping for the best.

Update:

by the way, I'm uncircumsized

Extreme curvature of your penis when erected is a well known medical condifion, there is an excellent surgical procedure which a urological surgeon can perform that will correct the curvature-one down side is you loose about 1 inch in length which seems a small price to pay.

What do you mean by 90 degrees? That is straight up or straight down- 180 would be straight out. If you point straight upwards, that is normal for most younger guys-- also your mother is right about the foreskin not having to retract. Unless your penis is curved into a circle should not be an issue with sex. Straight up is optimum for vaginal penetration by the way, the vagina goes upward, so guys thrust upward during sex, and a penis pointing up fits perfectly.

A little bit of a curve is normal. All men are born differently in all shapes and sizes. A large curve may be a problem and an inconvenience but I would not consider it a health risk. I would ask my doctor if I were you. I am not a doctor. I hope this helps

No one but you can really help you to get ready for medical treatment. Your best bet is to try to relax into the belief in your doctors and realize that truly amazing medical assistance is available for you.

The penis is so much easier to work on compared to stuff inside your body. I think you will get relief.
