IS 300 LSD in an IS 250?

I know this is possible but what's the process and what's required? I always thought it was JUST the LSD itself but apparently there's also a carrier involved? When I bought a LSD for my previous car, the mustang, I only needed to purchase the LSD, nothing else. I learned yesterday that an open diff won't work for me but I don't want to spend that much on one (I know aftermarket ones can run up to $1500, sometimes even over $2K for Japanese/European cars). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You just need a little more information. In a mustang (and really, any axle), the carrier is the center section that the ring gear bolts to. That IS the limited slip differential. It's no different in an IS. The exception, however, is if you get one of those "Phantom Grip" type of LSD's that are put in the stock open carrier, and in that case it might not work on the IS250 carrier.
