wireless microphone setup for canon t3i?

Sound used to not matter to me because I did mostly short films but now that I'm in a filming class, we're closing up on doing the final film project and I'm incorporating dialogue in my film. I've looked around and I don't plan on spending that much on super expensive microphones and a wireless receiver. The option that I'd want most if it will work for my situations is a lavalier microphone connected to a wireless receiver that's mounted to my camera. I am also planning on starting vlogs on YouTube but for this final film project in my class, I'm going to be filming people outdoors with probably some slight wind. I've only heard of and looked into the Zoom H1 and have looked into the sennheiser microphone but the entire setup would be around 1k and to me, for now, that's too much. I have looked into some Sony microphones (ECM-CS10) and Audio Tecnica but my film teacher said that I most likely will get some wind noise from the microphone no matter how good the recording device is. I'll need some input soon as this project is due in about two weeks. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Believe it or not terms are important in this business... "film" is incorrect when talking about digital cameras.

They don't do film, they shoot video.

The t3i (I own one) is an excellent camera. But why do you need wireless for a lav mike? Are you planning some distant, perhaps reporter style walking down the street shots? If so then yes. But if you're just planning interview stuff you don't need wireless.

You're correct, wireless is expensive. Stay away from Audio Technica... Their stuff is junk... I've had enough experience with them over the years to know that. Wireless... Sony is one of the best out there.

Sennheiser is probably the very best but you're again correct, expensive.

If you don't need wireless then I suggest this. I own one of these also and it's doing pretty well even with the low price.

Also if you're in the market for a top mount shotgun, I suggest this. Again I own one and it does very well for me.

In any case yes you are going to get some wind noise from a lav. The wind screens aren't well enough made to keep all of it out.

    Good luck
