Laptop isn't turning on or charging?

I have a Windows 8 HP Pavilion laptop and it isn't turning on all of a sudden. When I press or hold the power button, nothing happens. When I plug in the charger and turn the power on, the charger light on the laptop itself doesn't come on like it usually does.

I'm not sure why it's done this all of a sudden. I woke up this morning after leaving it charging overnight like I usually do. I tried turning it on but no response. The only thing I've done differently was last night when I watched a movie by plugging it into the TV via HDMI for the first time. I also converted a 7GB video file, but I'm pretty sure that had finished before I shut the computer down. That's all that happened before I woke up and it wouldn't turn on. Like I said, I've tried charging it but no charge light on the laptop turns on. I didn't touch the battery at all. Any help would be great, thanks.

Update:

Update: I tried inserting the battery from my laptop into my sister's which happens to be exactly the same laptop. Funnily enough, the battery works fine there. I inserted my sister's working battery into my laptop, but it doesn't work. I think it might be how the battery is connected or read. Thanks all for your suggestions, I'll take it in for servicing tomorrow.

Sounds likethe power supply on you laptop fried :-( sorry to say it...they can be a bit pricey to replace. PS you did nothing wrong that would have caused this. It may have been a power surge or maybe it was just a defective power supply.... Pps if you didn't already know, all electronics you want to keep should be on surge protectors, TV, laptops, coffee maker. Everything ;-)

If you are not sure U can take it to a service center to get it checked. Else you can try removing the battery for few minutes reconnect and then plug it to charge for half an hour or so. Just check if you had placed your laptop in high humidity area. Better option is to get is serviced from a service center.

  • Try to remove the battery pack & plug in the charger & press the power button... any good??
