No, we don't need millions of illegal aliens. Nor do we need Ebola, or wars, or poverty, or social injustice, or rape or murder. None of this exists because we need it. I thought that would be pretty obvious and not difficult to grasp.

Source(s): An immigrant from Europe, I now live on the American Rivera in the charming old mission town San Buenaventura and work as an attorney in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Whether the US "needs" illegal immigrants or not isn't the real question. People have come to the US illegally (or overstayed visas) whether we "need" them or not. They're here. And they have been here, in many cases, for a long time. The real question is what is the best path forward, given the present situation.

For many of them, deportation is the answer, and we're deporting a lot of people. It's not feasible or practical for the entire population, however.

Part of the solution should also be to look at our legal immigration system as well, since that's the other side of the coin. Our legal immigration system is cumbersome, inefficient, and is not serving the needs of the American economy. Agriculture needs a reliable, legal workforce. We should stop exporting our foreign graduate students who come here and get advanced degrees. And perhaps we should look at some sort of path to legality for the illegals who are presently here, to pull them out of the shadow economy, and into the ranks of legal tax paying residents.

Irregardless of why they came here, do we need 11 million illegal women and children from Central America in the USA who will probably end up on the Welfare System?

Yes, actually, we do. Those children, if educated and given a chance to have real jobs, will be supporting the rest of us as we age. Look at what's happening in Japan, where they have a low birth rate, and don't allow immigration. They're in real pain because they don't have the young people to replace the work force.

Yes, as harvard implied, the birth rate is going down, and so there is some justice to the shuffling and forced migrations.

The birth rate of native Americans is probably going down because:

    1. they start so late.

    2. they work so much.

    3. the environment is getting polluted.

does the USA really need people who obviously are too lazy or too full of themselves to do the hard work that those immigrants have no problem doing because they know true hardship? people always complain that they steal our jobs, but really? if you were the best person for the job, you would get the job. because they try their best and do the dirty work to get to where they are to save their families, while we sit on our asses and blame them for all our problems that we made ourselves.

    Short answer: no.

Long answer: millions of AMERICANS are unemployed. We don't need supplemental immigrant labor.

No because if we bring millions of undocumented immigrants then the unemployment rate will skyrocket because a majority of them do not like to work.

not in the least. It's not like we are getting college educated doctors and tech professionals in this lot.
