Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and the Yahoo Answers website is now in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Yahoo Answers does not work correctly on my Laptop. Can someone help me here?

Every time I try and post an answer to a question the site changes to the "Discover" mode rather than the "Answer" mode. I keep clicking on the Answer heading but I can't type an answer and if I check the darn thing is once again in the Discover mode. I've also lost the comments section on Yahoo News which has always been at the end of an article. I don't know if that is related. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks, BAX

Clear your browser cache and cookies

Fixing problems with Yahoo pages is usually as simple as clearing your browser's cache and cookies.

Your browser's cache stores information to help pages load faster. Cookies are small files stored on your computer that save specific information (like passwords and site-specific preferences).

    Clear your cookies to fix

Sign-in problems (not being able to sign-in, not being able to stay signed-in)

Error messages about setting user cookies

    Clear your cache to fix

Pages that freeze or don't finish loading

    Outdated pages with old content

Online applications (like games) that don't respond

    Steps for Yahoo supported browsers

Note: If your browser isn't listed below, refer to your browser's support site to learn how to clear your cache and cookies.

The loss of News Comments is almost always associated with a bad cache file on your system. If you have cache files to the older news pages, that will happen. That may also fix the other problem. The Discover/Answer tab can be related to your laptop not accepting cookies (how the page knows which you want). Also, when you log off Yahoo, it always will switch back to Discover as the default.
