In Windows, how do I permanently assign the same drive letter to a network drive?

Update:

I have two cloud-based network drives, and every time I restart they switch between Y and Z. As a result all my shortcuts are wrong.

    Create a batch file

    Put the following instruction in the batch file:

    net use drive letter: \\sharename /persistent:yes

    Example: net use F: \\documents /persistent:yes

    Save the batch file in the startup folder.
