Why is Fiat stopping sales of the 500 model in North America?

I read recently that Fiat is stopping production and sales of the 500 hatchback model in North America. I thought that has been their best selling model in North America since they re-entered the North American market in 2009?

The TREND in NORTH AMERICA these days is PICKUP TRUCKS and SUVs! The LUST for a regualr car is about over! FORD has stopped making many models as SUVs get MROE adn MORE popular! The FIAT 500 is NOT a POS< it just does NOT fit in with other vheilces that areMORE utile and functional! Teh 500 is quite SMALL< adn though efficeint and reliAble, is NOT everyone's idea of something GRREAT to spend money on! I LIKE older used BENZ, BMW< and AUDI cars better than the little FIAT cars! And the SMART for TWO is just SO SILLY to me! IN EUROPE they have the SAMRT for FOUR< whichmakes MORE SENSE! Teh FOR TWO model is knda lke a GOLF CART! ANYWAYS in AMERICA small cars ae JUST not tht popular! PERHAPS we are AFRAID  to get SQUASHED between tow turcks! That DID happen to ME< but I did not even get SCRATCHED in my old BENZ 300! YES!

the fact that it doesn't sell well, and yet it is their top seller. It gives you an idea of how horribly their other cars are selling. North Americans do care about reliability. If we want shoddy build quality and mediocre reliability, we can buy our own homegrown Chrysler product...which is also owned by Fiat since 2009, ironically

FCA makes crappy cars and their factory warranty service satisfaction is below Kia, pure no fix junk!

There's a reason they are selling Dodge Demons for $7,500 off DSP, because they're unloading them!

Basically, not even the US cops want them and now hate that GM and Ford no longer make RWD cars.

Watch some videos from people who bought an FCA product before you buy, warranty service sucks!

FCA's quality rivals Renault back in the 1970's, Fiat is down in the dumps and so is Chrysler under Fiat.

Sales expectations are not being met!

Fiat never has adjusted to the superior design and build quality done by Oriental competitors. They still think cars designed and built using Japanese techniques are the same the US consumer saw in Yugo's.

The Fiat 500 does not enjoy the place in the hearts of Americans that say the Mini Cooper did (which is also in trouble in the US market) or the VW Bug whose "reborn version" also disappointed the US car buyers.

Fix It Again Tony is still Fiat and nothing has changed in the commitment to quality products they always had.

Because they are rubbish and even the door handles snap.

Because people are buying Fiats -- and they get more money for the bigger cars.

For the same reason they stopped back in the 80's. People figured out the cars are junk and stopped buying them. Fiat figured with a new generation of young, less than knowledgeable people, they could start peddling their junk again. Well, it worked for a while, but now people are getting wise again, and sales are dropping off.

Import taxes will price it off the market.

    Because of Donald Trump.
