have you ever been to the bahamas?

I've been to Nassau twice via a cruise.  I wasn't very impressed because the port area reminded me too much of home (at the time, I was living in a touristy area in the US).

If I (female traveling solo) had felt comfortable wandering away from the tourist drag, maybe I would've had a better impression.

Edit: That's not to say I didn't have a nice time there, just that I wish the atmosphere (especially for my first time outside of the US) was more "foreign".

Been several times, but don't go to Nassau.  Go to the real Bahamas, the out islands.

Yes and they were very tourist friendly, the water and beaches were beautiful.

No. I bet it would be a nice place to visit. Probably can't do it this year, but maybe one day...
