I assume you’re talking about the new (BMW) ones. There’s no such thing as a “Mini cooper”. Cooper is used as a trim level, generally it goes One, Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works JCW.

There are several body stiles, 3 dr hatch , 5 door hatch  , Clubman , Countryman, Pace man, Convertible .

Then there are different engines. 1.4, 1.5,1.6 , 2.0 petrol 1.5 ,1.6 2.0 diesels and these all have various tunes that effect power output.

Some are All wheel drive although most are FWD.

Oh, there’s a hybrid as well.

So the range is vast and costs also cover a vast range.

If you’re talking about an original 60s Mini Cooper, maintenance will be sky high mostly trying to stop it turning to dust.

If you are talking about the newer ones, all sources say they are very trouble prone - and dealer service and parts are at BMW prices.

It depends on its age and condition, how much you drive, and what the costs are in your area.

    Which one?

Mini Coopers have been in production with only a short break for nearly 60 years now.

The answer also depends on how hard the car is driven.

The old classic Minis were cheap to run and fairly cheap for routine maintenance, but as with all cars of that time the early versions were often riddled with serious rust after just six years and later models tended to be a little better protected but often still had serious rust by about ten years. Fixing that was always hugely expensive. Coopers always had some special parts and needed more frequent maintenance so were not as cheap to maintain; especially if they were driven hard.

The BMW Minis only tend to rust if they have had poor repairs to collision damage. Routine servicing remains cheap by modern standards, but some of the periodic jobs involve a lot of labour so can be expensive.

If those BMW Mini Coopers get driven hard then maintenance needs to occur a lot more frequently and it then becomes a lot more expensive to maintain.

You really have asked a classic example of a “How long is a piece of string?” question.
