Its name came from the Spanish word for mountain range. The Ford Sierra was first unveiled on 22 September 1982 at the British International Motor Show hosted at the NEC in Birmingham, shortly followed by the Salon de l'Automobile in Paris on 30 September 1982.

Ford comes from the founder of the company, Henry Ford.  Sierra is Spanish for mountain range.  It's also the name of a mountain range in the western US.

    Your question is ambiguous.

The name is inspired by the Sierra Nevada mountains in Spain.

But the model name was applied to a Ford Europe car manufactured from 1982 to 1993, inspired by the earlier Ford Probe concept design (totally different to the later Ford Probe production car).
