I would put money on it. Lockdowns don't work but the powers that be, especially the police, love them. Much easier to harass someone sat on a bench drinking coffee that deal with real crime.

Yes. There is a new and dangerous variant from India from which the vaccine does not give protection. There are 50 flights to Heathrow every day, so it is going to be back to disaster and worse in a few months by the look of it.
I hope I am wrong here, but there is news this morning of the variant.

No. I think the vaccine programme should take the pressure off the hospitals so that we can avoid that. The infection won't go away, but its consequences will not be so devastating and people will get still get ill until we reach herd immunity. The rider to that will be if the vaccine is ineffective against a variant. What we will have is tough restrictions on foreign travel and rigorous track and trace.
