National Service in the UK. If you have left school and are not headed for further education or a job, then you will be drafted into a national service be it working in the fields, community service, clearing up the countryside, conservation, army, navy or airforce for two years. It would be run by the Armed services, armed services style. If loads of layabout ne'er do wells knew they had to do this graft for the same price as dole then they may try a bit harder to get into work or look into further training etc.. l
