  • Comcast RCA Modem Issue?

    I had a home telephone problem so Comcast just replaced my cable modem with an RCA Modem. Until now, Internet from Comcast worked WONDERFULLY - not a single issue in years of service. I had a motorola modem until the replacement. As soon as they installed the new RCA modem - two things started happening. First, my Apple Airport Extreme router occasionally reports that there is no connection and then auto-reconnects after about a minute. Second, and most annoying, DNS look ups take 7-10 seconds each time I try to connect to websites. Both problems are driving me nuts and comcast tech support is incapable of troubleshooting because they can see the modem each time I call to complain. Then they go down the path of "well, we don't support routers" and I just want to scream. :-) Could there be a documented problem between an Airport Extreme and the new RCA modem? Maybe some setting somewhere that I can change that would make the two work better together? Or is this simply an RCA modem issue and I should press for another replacement? Or any other thoughts?

  • Using Vizio TV as Monitor?

    I have a Vizio VA26L TV - trying to use the Analog RGB PC IN input to use the TV as monitor. However, it just keeps saying "NO SIGNAL" when plugged into my machine. There are no drivers for this "monitor" - the instructions just say plug it in and start the PC. Any help? I'm running Windows 7 and have an NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430. When I move cable back to my regular 19" LCD, it works fine.

  • Need assistance diagnosing a GFCI problem.?

    My kitchen GFCI outlets are out. When I press the RESET button on the GFCI outlet with TEST and RESET buttons, it immediately pops back out again. I plugged a GFCI tester into the outlet. When I press RESET, the CIRCUIT OK lights come on but the RESET switch immediately pops out again. Any thoughts on what the problem is? Or how I can continue troubleshooting. Other GFCI outlets in the house are fine - it's just this one inline sequence of GFCI outlets.

  • Should I change rear suspension bushing?

    I have been told for some time that my rear "bushings" are bad on my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder LE. Since the cost is high ($900) I have avoided it. Am I doing damage by not replacing them? How can I minimize this cost?

  • What is involved with replacing front shocks on a Nissan Pathfinder LE 2000?

    I've never tried replacing something like a shock before, is this something that is extremely involved? Can it be done at home in the garage?

  • ERROR: Invalid ip address, error renewing ip address. The semaphore timeout period has expired.?

    Have a desktop connected to my cable modem. All works fine. If I move connection cable to a new laptop with Win XP Pro, I get this error.

    ERROR: Invalid ip address, error renewing ip address. The semaphore timeout period has expired.

    No matter what I do, I can't get it to properly obtain an IP address. Have tried basic IPCONFIG commands, power cycling cable modem, etc. If I switch back to desktop, everything works fine again. Cable company is not doing any MAC filtering. Can plug other machines into connection and work fine. Only this laptop not working. Same laptop does work on friends internet connection.

    Help please. Thanks!

  • Got instructions how to fix a MAC/Yahoo Messenger problem but I don't know how to handle.?

    Sorry, new to MAC and I had a problem with Yahoo! Messenger that someone answered nicely. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do what they told me. I asked how to fix a scroll problem in Yahoo! Messenger and got this response:

    -------

    edit /Applications/ Yahoo! Messenger.app/ Contents/ Resources/ Default.ymStyle/ main.js (line 417)

    body.scrollTop = body.scrollHeight - document.clientHeight;

    to

    body.scrollTop = body.scrollHeight;

    -------

    Sounds like the Windows equivalent of REGEDIT and it looks like I have to edit a line in the .app file but I don't know how to actually do the editing in my new MAC world.

    Can someone help? Maybe explain a little about what it is that I'm actually doing?

    Thanks!
