No one can claim that they have 100% pure Filipino blood running in their veins because Filipinos are a mixed breed of people--Spanish,Americans, Chinese, the Astronesians stocks. Even Lapulapu, Bonifacio or Gabriela Silang, etc..,Im sure they were only half of this race and a fourth that race, and another of this race.

Besides, being pure breed is not a unique requirement for selecting heroes or national leaders. The Americans for example. Their first president, the great George Washington was not pure American and most of those after him. Soon, its Barack Obama, not pure American..

    No big deal.

    Filipino National Heroes

Philippines National Heroes were not pure Filipino because the Americans only made those heroes when they came over us...

Our true Native heroes were already forgotten or not even given any special celebration with d likes of Dagohoy or Sakay (guess you don't even know this guys!) Those families who continued opposing the Foreign invaders were put aside by the American conquerors. Thus, when they made the list of National Heroes, the true blooded Filipinos were put aside. Its all politics.

Dr. Jose Rizal was the Philippine National Hero.. He's actually Filipino! But he could speak lots of languages especially those of the European countries.. But of course, he's not that Pure. Because the pure Filipinos were those who'd lived hundred of years ago. They're what we call the katutubo. If the Filipinos at the present aren't pure as well.

There's no such thing as pure Filipino. Filipinos are mixed Malayan, Indonesian, Chinese and Spaniards. The only pure Filipinos are the "Aetas". This goes the same with americans. There is no pure americans. Native indians (Sioux, Apache, etc...) are the True Americans.

Foreigners, especially Spaniards and Chinese, came before Rizal, the Philippine National Hero, was born. So It would be no surprise if he isn't pure Filipino. His mother is of Chinese descent and it wouldn't be a surprise if he has Spanish blood.

But he has a rich bloodline, You should research more about it.

Source(s): I read about an autobiography about it.

there is this theory that the only reason why Rizal is our national hero is because during the American period (when all of this institutionalizing mumbo-jumbo first took place), the Americans would rather have us relate to someone who best represented "democracy" instead of anyone who'd be rebellious. ethnicity wasn't even an issue because as far as the Americans were concerned, Filipinos are all alike.

because there was/ is no really 100% pure-blooded filipino... the people who were/ are called filipinos before and in the present time are descendants of mixed races.

filipinos are mixture of races from malay, chinese, japanese, spanish, india, etc.. etc.. and etc..

even the negritos who were the first people of the "philippines" - (philippines was still not known of that name until magellan "discovered" it) were not natives of the island. they came thru migration from eastern Africa as much as 60,000 years ago.

so, who are the pure-blooded filipinos anyway?

Humm...I think majority of us is not "pure", I mean we are country of mix blood...Chinese, Spanish, American, Japanese, Indian, indonesian, what else? Native Filipinos are those Malays, Negritos and Aetas, why they are not heroes? I think none of them are known to had fought for something...maybe they did tribal wars and all but it wasn't recognized...

    I love Rizal...my first love:p
