I think for me it will be two things, the book and the bolo. The book because it was through Jose Rizal's writings that the Filipino people became enlightened of the importance of being a free nation, not oppressed by foreign rule. And the bolo because it was the leadership and courage of Andres Bonifacio that spearheaded the revolution, inspiring Pinoys to arm themselves and fight back the tyrants that have long abused our people.

After living here I think that the only really independent thinking filipinos are the Moro's who do not consider themselves filipino at all.

They fought the Spanish, The USA, and The RP, and still refused to be ruled by outsiders, even while they have been abused by all three groups. Sadly they are now victims of the push against global terrorism because Abu Sayef has set up shop amongst them, which will give the RP Rich and powerful the excuse they need to eradicate them, not that Quezon and other leaders did not try to already.

I do not think that the average filipino is free or independent.

They are searched at every building they come to, they are neglected by their goverment, underpaid, underemployed, undereducated, and kept poor, pregnant, and ignorant by the Church and the Rich of this Country.

an owl... i've got seen some rather cool Tribals in the form of an owl, except you opt to flow "cutsie" you will get a greater cartoonish owl. An anch (sp?) A go yet with a loop on the superb, is a logo of "lifestyles", the attention of horace could be cool as nicely. maximum tat artists understand what the two a sort of are. The sunlight is likewise a logo of "growing to be" and discovering... so, possibly an owl interior the sunlight... or the attention interior the sunlight, or provide the owl the attention of horace.. threat is countless.

none!! we may have independence. but we still succumed to our debt to them. we tend to embrace their culture, new trends, etc. its sad, but true. americas cultural attraction is so strong that even japanese adapt it. so i still dont think we are independent. our government is still one of those puppet government the US have on their pockets to use in their own free will. and our government, behind our backs, succumbs to what the US wants of them. so i think we are only independent in a way that we are governing ourselves. filipinos get to elect filipino officials, have our own democracy, but that ends there.

we still hold elections. it may not be perfect but we still choose our leaders. if we're not independent we can't do that.
