How do you propose to solve the Muslim problem in the South?
The burden is heavy for the current government find a solution to the Muslim separatist problem in the southern part of the country. With its alliance with Al queda the issue is even more complex. Pres. Aquino will need all the help. Ideas? Assume money is limited to about $240 million U.S. a year.
@Deliverance-You probably meant autonomy. The country or any other sovereign state won't allow itself to be divided unless mandated by an international orgazation like the UN. However autonomy has been tried before by past administrations and as you can see it has failed miserably. The rebel leaders demanded separation initially but sensing this was non-starter they settled for autonomy and took the money and kept mum. Now the money has dried up they are getting nosier once again. The other posters are fed up with these bandits, who wouldn't be?

Separation. That is the only solution I can see. As long as we want to keep the south and run it we are going to have this kind of problem whether it is 5 to 10 to 50 years from now. It will never end.
As you said in your own words "a heavy burden for the government". No matter how many government we change the problem is still there. So why not try the approach of the Russia, former Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia. Each one has their own set of government run by its own leaders separated from their former countries. Al Queda just came to the picture because of US intervention with the Philippines, If we are not alligned with the US government Al Queda will not be in the picture but we are former colony of the US government.
That is the bitter truth. Are we ready to forgo with the south or not? The Philippines government cannot make the south prosperous therefore it must let the Muslim run it like they want it to be and focus much more on the remaining region that we still have. Why stick with something with so much headache and problem? It is like a relationship of two people,why stay with the relationship when things are not really working out for both parties? There is a solution to every problem under the sun the only problem is that are we ready to apply it?

As long as there are muslims there will be a problem therefore the only way to get rid of the problem is to get rid of the muslims.
This would require something like genocide but it is the only way.
Edit. The muslims want to rule the world so no matter how much we give to them they will want more. Separate them? ha ha then in 2 years they will want the rest of the Philippines.
Doesn't everybody know that it is a muslim "duty" to kill all infidels (non believers)? That means me & YOU. Not control or live in peace side by side but to KILL.

White settlers in Australia, Tasmania to be exact, formed a line across the entire island and on cue--started to march forward. ANY Aboriginal sighted was simply shot down. Now that is a fact, all true and part of Australian history.

Move them to malysia or some other muslim country. Let them have zulu islands but before that take all natural resources, oil and fish from around the islands. Let them have independace in worthless islands. Watch profit come from not fighting with them all the time.

It sounds harsh but only way to solve the muslim problem is getting rid of them all. Only way to do that is through wholesale slaughter. Its not a problem that can be fixed in any other way.

You stupid filthy domestic helpers can all kill each other for all I care. Well, it may actually be a good thing, so as we can rid South East Asia of the Mexicans of Asia.
