Is Philippines a U.S. territory?

If you do a quick google search, you will realize that the Philippines became an independent country on July 4, 1946!

So yes you will definately need a U.S. Passport when you enter the country!

I was born in the Philippines. My parents got me a PHILIPPINE PASSPORT when I went here to America, first to vist then to immigrate, as a child!

So while yes, it USED to be a part of the U.S. Territory, the residents and presidents and high officials wanted independence, especially after WWII and so therefore, the wish was granted!

First, no. The Philippine Islands (as it was known as back then) was a U.S. territory from 1898-1946. The archipelago got its current name in 1935 at the start of the Commonwealth period and lasted through 1946, with the exception of the Japanese occupation during World War II between 1941 to 1945.

Second, a passport is required to enter the country. You can stay there visa-free for up to 30 days, then you are required to have a ticket to either return to your home country or travel to another one.

The Philippines is an independent country. You do need a passport to travel there.

The Philippines ceased being a US Territory in 1946 so US citizens need a passport to enter the country, and you can visit for up to 30 days as a tourist w/o a visa.  You also need the passport to return to the USA.

Note that if you were born after 1973 and your mother was a citizen of the Philippines when you were born then you probably qualify for Philippines citizenship. Getting a Philippines passport would let you visit the Philippines as long as you want without a visa.

If you get a Philippines passport in addition to your US passport then you show both passports to the airline check in agent when leaving the USA.  Show only your Philippines passport to the Immigration Officer when you enter and exit the Philippines. Show both passports to the airline check in agent when returning to the USA. Show only your US passport to the Immigration Officer when entering the USA.  

No it's a separate country nothing to do with the US. You need a passport.
