  • On average what does it cost to rent an economy car long term..say two months?

Just looking for a ball park as I know there are a lot of variables. I'm considering taking an eight week contract job across country...MI to Vegas. It's such a long drive, I'm considering flying in and renting. The company gives me 2K a month per diem, so how I spend it is up to me.

  • Could this be a meth lab or some other drug-related process?

I live in a condo. The units mirror one another...my neighbor's shower backs mine. For five days straight now his shower has been on. I asked maintenance yesterday to see if there was a problem. Worried because I hadn't heard back, I knocked on his door this morning to check in on him. He acted real weird and it freaked me out so I left. I KNOW his shower is running, I've been here long enough to know. So, why would someone do this? Is this part of making illicit drugs?

  • Does tapeworm become resistant to treatment?

I rescued a cat in January. After a month or so I noticed tapeworms, I brought the segments in and the vet verified it and treated him. He was treated by the rescue organization also. He was clear for a couple months, now I am finding segments again. He has never been outside since I've owned him and there has never been fleas on him or in my home either. Nor are there any rodents in my home that could be carrying them. The only thing I can think of is that the parasites have built up a resistance to the treatment over the course of time. Is this possible? Is there any possible way to rid him completely and permanently?

  • long-wearing suncreen with high SPF?

I am having trouble finding a sunscreen that will last through the day to wear underneath my makeup. I work outside all day so it needs to last. I wear makeup so it's not something that I can run in an re-apply. I put waterproof 100SPF on under my makeup in the morning, but I sweat a lot and end up getting burned or tanned on my nose. Since I wear safety glasses, I end up with this dorky looking tan nose with white rings around my eyes!

I know this is an odd time of year to be asking, but hey; I'm in the south and although it's colder now, the sun is more intense and I want to be prepared.

  • Help with bug identification?

I saw this bug, at night. I've never seen anything like it before. I have looked everywhere and can't identify it. I live in MI.

It was about 4 inches long. It's body was perfectly straight and smooth and had no curvature to it at all and no tapering or notches/segments to it, not even at the end other that a slight radius at the end of the wings, which were tight to the body. It was about 3/8 of an inch wide. It was brown and I could see a bit under the wings when I touched it and it was bright green.

Its head was separate like a praying mantis which it wasn't. The head was oval horizontally and was a bit narrower than the body and about an 1/8 of inch deep. The eyes were bulbous.

It had about 2 inch long legs that were about as thick as thin spaghetti and they were bent at about 1 inch.

I spotted it on a sidewalk under a streetlight and I live near ponds.

Please help this will drive me insane if I can't figure it out!

  • What to do when a goddess you don't relate to chooses you in paganism?

This is a serious question and if you are not a practicing and experienced pagan please don't contribute.

I have been dedicated for over a year now. A certain dark goddess has made it very clear that I am to worship her. She is getting impatient and a bit nasty, and has inflicted minor but nuisance pain upon me when I try to reject her. My priestess has confirmed with me whom it is and is warning me of the dangers of this goddess. The goddess appeared before her and got a bit angry that she was trying to scare me etc.

I don't know what to do. I'm not interested in a dark goddess. Do I have a choice? I am beginning to think not and maybe this goddess has something to teach me that I am not aware of.

  • How to email someone without using outlook.?

I'd like to send an email to someone on a website that I frequently visit and ask a question. There is a link that says "email me" When I click it, Outlook pops up and wants to guide me through setup. I hate outlook and do not want to set up an account on my computer. Is there anyway I can get the email address and copy it into my Yahoo email and send it from there? The email address isn't showing.

  • Sewer gas coming up through shower drain?

I am getting sewer gas up through my shower drain and only that drain. It is definitely sewer gas and not bacteria from a clog etc.; I know the difference. It drains perfectly also. I suspect that the trap is drying out because it goes away temporarily if I run some water in there. This is a shower that is used regularly, so it is not evaporating from lack of use. The smell comes up even when no water is running elsewhere in the house. The toilet flushes fine in that room and all the sinks throughout the house drain well, but the toilet in the bathroom on the other end of the the house has a huge bloop sound and air bubble when it is flushed. I mention the bloop because I read something vague about that, but it wasn't really clear. This is a 7yr old condo and I live on the upper floor. This is a new problem so it cant be from poor plumbing design.

I'm mentioning all the above so it isn't suggested because I've read that stuff in my research before consulting here. Could it be the roof vent, and if so, why now and not before? I'm praying that you suggest that is the problem, because then it falls on the association to fix and not me. The accessible neighbors in this building are rotten to me, so I can't ask them if they are experiencing the same problem.

  • Is Yahoo Mail necessary to belong to Yahoo Groups and Answers etc?

I've been with Yahoo for eons. Now my Yahoo email wont work; I cant reply to or compose mail. Supposedly has to do with a Firefox thing. I refuse to change browsers because one site doesn't support it.

Anyways, I belong to several Yahoo Groups, participate here in Answers and like to post comments to articles etc. Can I delete just my mail account once everything is transferred, or do I need to keep the mail account to be able to do everything else here?

  • My Yahoo Mail quit working!?

Help! I'm desperate. I am in the midst of a hiring process for a job and most communication is via Yahoo email. I am panicking and don't know what to do. I haven't worked in a year, and this is all I need! I searched Yahoo Answers and went to support, nothing is working. I even updated all my add ons...Java, Flash Player. This just started. What happens if I click compose, if it decides to load, which takes a while, the cursor doesn't blink in the recipient line and I cannot type anything in. I can't move to the body of the email either. Just a static cursor. If I must, I'll switch to the old version if anyone can direct me how to do that. I am receiving mail.

  • What to serve with this entree?

I have this recipe that I've made a few times now, and its awesome, but I can't figure out what to serve with it. It is an old recipe from Jeff Smith aka the Frugal Gourmet if anyone remembers that old PBS cooking show. Getting a little nostalgic sorry.

Anyways, it is chicken breasts stuffed with spinach and feta cheese. You pound the chicken then roll them up with the goodies and then coat them with bread crumbs and bake. In the meantime, and this is what makes it yummy, is you make a mushroom wine sauce with sliced mushrooms and a chicken stock base. The sauce goes over the chicken voile!

I've yet to find an appropriate companion to serve with it. I've tried rice pilaf, but the seasonings don't compliment the wine sauce. Of course I always serve a steamed veggie, but it seems like I need a starch too. I always serve three courses, so I need something else besides the veggies. Any ideas from you chefs out there? What would you serve? I can find the recipe if you have a suggestion.

  • Why does my dog lick her plush toy like it's a baby?

I have a nine-year-old JRT. She has tons of toys and chooses a new "favorite" every once in a while. She can get kind of protective with them and growls if my other JRT just walks by them, even though the other one has no interest; she only likes tuggies and balls. They are both females.

Anyways, got a little off track. With some of her favorite plush toys, usually bigger ones, she will lay on the couch with them and lick them to death like she is cleaning them. It looks like affection almost. Why does she do this? Can dogs really get that attached to a toy? It's not beneath her to destroy one though when I'm gone out of separation anxiety...I think she knows I'll stitch the favs back up. She snoops in my sewing room for them...lol. Sometimes she'll dash out of there with one when she thinks I'm not looking before I can repair it.

  • What is a coolin bind?

I was reading the posts about the Yahoo question about the thoughts on the horrible shooting in CT. One person was talking about trouble and school and this sentence was in her response:

"Today someone on my bus said they were doing a coolin bind at my school and I turned him in AS SOON AS I WALKED IN MY HOUSE I am in eleventh grade..."

What is that? Forgive me, I'm getting older and can't keep up anymore with youth's terminology.

  • What would be your dream job?

If you could have any job in the world...not retirement...without restrictions like money, natural ability or education, what would it be? I'm talking you have to work but salary isn't important. Say you could be it without the burden of school too. Like some people would love to be doctors, but aren't smart enough, don't have the drive, or cannot afford school, yet it is still the thing they'd find the most fulfilling.

Just what would you love the most? For me, I'd love to be an editor for a magazine.

  • Washing machine sounds like it's slamming against something inside when it agitates?

My washing machine is making a loud banging noise when it agitates like it's hitting something inside. I washed a heavy chenille rug in the washing machine and I had to stop the spin cycle because it was severely out of balance. I was quick, but apparently not quick enough to prevent damage because when I started the next load, it started making a loud banging noise with each agitation back and forth. It kinda sounds like something is loose or broken inside, which prevents the agitation in each direction from stopping on time and it's hitting something. It spins fine though.

Please don't say "Call a repairman." because that's obvious and useless advice. I'm unemployed and not even getting by. I'm pretty handy and want to attempt to fix it myself first if possible. Anyone care to give a diagnostic, and if possible, let me know if it's a do-it-yourself job for a fairly mechanically inclined woman? If I know what it is, I'm sure I can look up the fix it online.

    Thanks

  • Do the police press charges for abuse or does the victim have to if its an adult?

My neighbor was caught physically abusing his wife. Do the police automatically press charges? On TV you often see that women refuse to press charges. Is this so? I don't want to see the SOB get away with it.

*note, I called the police and they busted in on it, so it's not a he said she said thing, there is evidence.

  • What is the best type of pie pan to use for a good bottom crust?

I want to start making my own pie crusts. I got the method down, but I cant decide what type of pan to use: glass, ceramic, tin, or enameled tin. I read a lot of people use glass, but it seems like the crust would stick and not brown up as well on the bottom as an old-fashioned tin pan.

Also, I read a lot about pre-baking the crust, but I want a double crust pie.

I haven't bought any pans yet, so please advise before I spend my money.

  • Is there a way to tenderize meat without adding flavor from a marinade?

I'm make make stir fry often with round steak or sometimes flank steak. I usually pound the heck out of it to tenderize it, but sometimes it's still tougher than I'd like. Since I'm going for an Asian flavor, I've always avoided acids like vinegar or lemon juice marinades. I've read that dry rubs don't really work, and I think I may have tried that years ago without success. Is there any way to tenderize beef without adding flavor from acids/marinades?

  • Yahoo Comments wont load properly...still!?

Does anybody know why Yahoo refuses to fix the problem with Yahoo Comments not loading properly at the end of articles? I know many have been experiencing this technical issue for months. I just don't get why they haven't fixed this problem. It can't be that big of an issue. Has anybody heard what the deal is? Don't respond with because Yahoo sucks. I am wondering if anybody knows about the status of this problem.
