  • If a co-signer has a worse credit score, is it better to have no co-signer?

I want to apply for a loan, and the documents say that getting a co-signer should improve my chances of approval and interest rate. Problem is, I really don't know anyone with very good credit, but I know I have good credit. So, would getting a co-signer on a loan with worse credit than me hurt me?

  • Is there a reason to use Chase Blueprint?

I don't get it. Once something is charged to the card, it's all the same as far as interest goes, right? What difference does it make if I pay for everyday items before I get charged interest on them, and not pay the same amount on my existing balance; or if I just charge everyday items on the card and make a payment on my general balance? I'm confused as to what the benefit of Blueprint is.

  • Need advice: Repair transmission, head gasket, and power steering?

Ok, need advice on what to do. My 2001 Focus is falling apart :) It leaks power steering fluid somewhere (can't tell where). It slowly looses coolant (have to fill up the overflow about once a month). When fixing my exhaust the other day, I noticed that it looks like the coolant is leaking out the exhaust!? I'm guessing it's a head gasket problem. And I just noticed that transmission is starting to slip when changing gears. My car has got about 120,000 miles on it.

Anybody have any idea about how much it would cost to get these things repaired? Would it be better to just to have the whole engine and transmission replaced with low-mileage or refurbished ones? Or, would I be able to get a used car with significantly lower mileage for about the same cost as the repairs?

I've already put some money in it when I had the brakes, drums, wheel bearing, ABS sensor, and tires replaced. It's kind of pissing me off, because I just moved, don't have access to a garage or tools to do any work myself, and I'm really tight on money (because I just moved). Maybe if I keep on having it repaired, it'll be like a new car, LOL.

  • High pitched noise while driving after changing drum brakes?

Ok, just changed my rear drum brakes in my car yesterday (that really sucked more than I thought it would). Now, while driving I hear a weird, constant, high pitched noise coming from one of the rear wheels. It's pretty much a constant noise, and stops when I apply the brake, and sometimes when I go over bumps. I'm guessing the noise is coming from something barely rubbing. Is this normal for replacing new drum brakes? If not, how do I fix it?

  • How does currency appreciation hurt a country's exports?

I've heard that there is a kind of "currency war" going on right now where every country is trying to stop its currency from appreciating too much in relation to other currencies. The stated reason for this was that it hurts a country's exports when its currency appreciates. Why? Wouldn't exporters just charge lower prices to offset the appreciation?

  • If I sell illegal drugs and report it as income when doing taxes, will law enforcement come after me?

I've read that it's against the law not to report income made through illegal means on taxes. So, is there a way to comply with that law without incriminating myself.

  • Where to put third-party Java libraries in Windows environment?

I'm used to working in a Linux environment, and installing libraries with the repository packages, which usually installs them various into linked directories.

I know I could put third-party libraries anywhere I want, but what's the normal practice? %Java_HOME%/lib maybe?

  • Do large investors pay for certain financial news to be reported?

I mean, you hear very wild claims all the time that don't really have any basis in reality. Within the past few years some of the wild claims I've heard were, "The Dow will hit 20,000 this year [2008]" (LOL), and "Gold will hit $5000/oz. soon" (another LOL). Do large investors pay people to say these things to get a lot of small investors to provide liquidity when the large investors want to close their positions?

  • Question about inflation/employment correlation?

Does higher inflation cause higher employment, or does higher employment cause higher inflation?

I know you there have been periods of stagflation. Most notably in the 1970s and 1980s U.S. where inflation and employment were not inversely correlated as usual. But, the employment problems during these times could be explained by the energy crisis, technological advances in production, and an increase in outsourcing for cheap labor. So, I believe there's a fairly strong inverse correlation between inflation and employment, but I'm wondering if one will generally cause the other or not.

  • What do Teabaggers think of patents?

Patents are essentially government enforced monopolies. I'm curious if the Teabaggers have an official stance on the issues of patents.

  • Why is it legal for unions to set wages?

Why is it legal for people in unions to cooperate together to set wages, while it's illegal for companies to set prices?

I'm very much pro-union (it's the only way for less-skilled workers to have any meaningful bargaining power), and I'm very much for healthy competition between businesses. I'm just curious how law makes the distinction between unions agreeing on wages, and businesses agreeing on prices.

  • Is belly fat inside or outside the abdomen muscles?

Just wondering if what we call "belly fat" is inside or outside the abdomen muscles. Could an obese person with a huge belly exercise the abdomen muscles intensively, and get weirdly huge, six pack abs? Just curious :) I'm naturally thin, but not of my own doing. I eat a crapload, and don't exercise at all. Just wondering about the anatomy of huge people :)

  • Do you like Arby's cheese sauce?

You know, the cheese sauce they put on some of their sandwiches. I think it's one of the most disgusting things I've ever ate. It also freaks me out that I don't have a clue as to what the heck it is. I'm pretty sure it's not cheese. It doesn't taste like, or have the consistency of cheese. I can't imagine anyone liking that crap.

So, that's my question. Is it just me, or is Arby's cheese sauce horrible?

  • What countries have "small governments?"?

Republicans always seem to be advocating "small government" (well, that's their rhetoric, not necessarily their actions). I take this to mean low government spending as a percentage of GDP. So, what are the effects of this on a country? What are some modern day examples of this?

  • Do you like doing taxes?

Just finished doing my taxes, and realized that I kind of enjoyed it. It was like solving a puzzle :) It's the first year I owe taxes. Kind of proud of that too, lol.

  • Name of movie about old couple on lake/cabin?

Anybody know of a movie about an old couple wrestling with being at the end of their lives while on vacation in a cabin by the lake? I think it was made in either the 80s or 90s and I think it's called, "[something] lake," but can't remember the name.

  • Good, cheap handgun under $300?

What's a good, reliable, handgun under 300 U.S. dollars, around 9mm or above? I would like a Beretta ninety-two, but can't afford one right now. Just want a simple, cheap, and accurate handgun. I guess I want the AK-47 of handguns :) Something mass-produced with proven reliability.

  • Has anybody ever been asked for social media profiles by an employer?

I sent my resume to a company, and they emailed me asking for addresses to my social media profiles. Anybody think this is strange? What is this world coming to?

I deleted all my social networking profiles a while ago so employers couldn't use my "friendships," or stuff like the music I listen to against me. And I rarely use my real name for anything on the internet.

  • Good free anti-virus/spyware/adware for idiots?

I'm sick of people calling me asking me to "fix" their computers after they downloaded 20 applications loaded with viruses/adware/spyware and god knows what else.

Is there any free application that prevents people from doing this kind of thing?
