As Dutch says , the bill value is guaranteed by the government , just take it to the bank and tell them you need it replaced . they will check the bill to be genuine and send it back to central bank , and they will be compensated later.

1 downside to new 500 bills , Etisalat/DEWA machines don't take them. Better for him to get other denominations if he was planning to pay any bills using that machine.

You might have washed a faked ADE 500 bill because when washing bank notes the security thread will neither disappear nor fade.

edit: you still can use the bank note in any store because it will still be considered as real. When taking to the bank you should get the bank note exchanged immediatly.

My husband doesnt empty his pockets either, at first it was really irritating, then I found my first $20. its normal , just iron it lightly and use it as normal .

if its rejected by few shop keepers then u can aproach bank ..
