  • How are some people conscious after a gun shot wound to the head, even if it's fatal?

For example Robert Kennedy took a head shot, the bullet was lodged in his brain, while bone fragments spread deep inside is brain. But he managed to stay conscious for about 10 minutes before eventually passing out.

  • Injection gone wrong, I think I hit some kind of vein, should I be concerned?

This morning I was doing a routine injection into my thigh, but I hit a weird resistance, and I wasn't thinking and just continued. I left the site in for a few hours before noticing that there was a lot of bruising around it, so I took it off. It seemed alright to begin with, but the hole grew a little bit, and it's bleeding a bit, just enough to show somewhat on the bandaid.

I'm a diabetic, and this has never happened before. Should I be concerned? Are there any complications that I should be looking out for?

  • How do you remove a knife from a stab wound?

I know that if you're stabbed you should go to the hospital and allow professionals to remove it, but would if you had no access to medical aid? What is the best way to remove the knife with minimal damage? Or should you just leave it in even if you have no way to contact 911?

  • My toddler bumped his forehead and bump feels soft.?

My 3 year old fell from standing on a kids chair today and hit his forehead on the floor. He got a bump and we quickly applied an ice pack to it. I then called our Dr to ask if it was necessary for him to go into the hospital as he did have a bump that looks bruised in color and what concerns me is that it feels soft to the touch. She said as long as he doesn't show signs of a concussion or other concerning sings he should be Ok. I've been watching him the whe afternoon and he is acting like his normal self, but I still cant out my mind and ease. Is feeling the bump soft bad? The bump is not even that big and it is not the first time he bumps his head but it's never felt soft before.

  • Why have I never broken any of my bones in my life?

When I was 2 years old, I fell out of a 2nd story window...

Compare the 20 or 30 or so feet of the second story back window of a South Philly rowhouse.. to about the 3 feet of a two year old kid..

And the concrete, vs the utter lack of physical maturity of a two year old.

    When I was 10..

I was on a school bus that is now illegal for safety reasons..

I was kicked in the face by a 16 year old mental patient, wearing steel toe boots...

    I didn't break any bones.

I was hit by a truck, on my bicycle...

    I didn't break any bones..

I was in a bad crash on my bike...

Over the handlebars, face planted on the asphalt..

    I didn't break any bones.

I was bit by a Rottweiler..

And this is a bad bite.. bad day..

I got it off me by shooting it in the head.

    I didn't break any bones..

I crashed a rental scooter, one of those veorides..

    25 mph downhill...

    Didn't break any bones.

  • Can I ask to be knocked out?

Like if i had to go to the hospital and get something pulled out of my foot. Could ask the doctor to give me something

that'll make me fall asleep and not feel the thing coming out of my foot? I'm worried I have something stuck deep into my foot and it hurts like hell. I have a very low pain tolerance so id much prefer to be asleep when they take it out.

  • What shoulder injury do I have? And how long should it be until I'm pain free/recovered?

For 5 months I have been suffering with intense shoulder pain. Initially the injury came about from doing pull ups. I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder and it's been there ever since.

I have visited a physiotherapist who believes that I've injured some soft tissue but from my reading and research I don't think it should still be lingering this far along.

An assessment was done, and there was no sign of any rotator cuff tears, although no scans have been done.

They advised that it will take time and not to worry, however this assement was done 4 months ago. Since I'm currently in lockdown trying to see a doctor has been a nightmare and have only been offered phone call appointments.

I feel like I've tried everything. I've used Ice, heat, rest, I've been following a physiotherapy rehab program, sleeping in good positions, taking anti inflammatory medication and doing EMS work. I've watched countless videos, read tones of online articles (from reputable sources) even to the point of reading 3 books.

I'm very concerned as you might be able to tell. Why is it taking so long? Why is there almost no improvement at all?

I have marked an X on my shoulder where I feel the pain (looks to be the teres minor and Infraspinatus).

I really need some advice on what to do. Getting a scan is my best bet I feel, but the question still remains.

What's my injury likely to be? And is 5 months to long (or what is a good timescale for overall healing)

    Any answers would be appreciated!!

  • Purple bruise at the top of butt. What is it?

It’s the inside on the top. It’s not the cheeks or the opening. I don’t really remember what I did if I did get hurt. I can barely even sit down without it hurting and being painful.

  • Should I be Worried About Black Eye?

Earlier this week I hit my face in an accident which left me with a baseball sized lump at the inner corner of my eyebrow. Through out the week the lump has been mushed all together with my eye and I haven't been able to see out of it since along with the swelling affecting my other eye

I know stuff like this has to look worse before it gets better but It's been 3 days and the bruising is a solid plum color and I still can't open my eye through the swelling. It doesn't hurt to pry open my eyes but it's extremely uncomfortable to see through my other eye which is half closed and really puffy.

Is this something I should go to the hospital for? I'm not in serious pain anymore but the swelling has me a bit worried? If not then when will my eye open back up and is it concerning that my other eye is swelling up and bruising despite not being injured?

Thanks and have a nice day

  • Sesamoid bone recovery?? Need help ..?

It’s been a week since I fractured my Sesamoid bone and have gotten miss information from my podiatrist. Gave me a boot for 3 weeks but I can’t even wear it because any amount of pressure is excruciating. How the hell do I heal this injury and how long does it take? I’m freaking out and am afraid it’s never going to heal.
