  • Is there a free way to discover how many searches a word gets per month?

I used to use Google's planner, but now they want a credit card and I wont' give them that. I didn't have an ad words account set up before the the change :-( So now that option is forever blocked. (unless I give them my credit card)

Is there another free way for this? The only ones I've found let you do a limited number of searches before they want a credit card too.

  • What is as easy to eat as junk but is healthy?

I want to start eating healthier and I m looking to replace the easy to eat junk food in my diet with easy to eat something healthy.

The problem s there doesn t seem to be any easy to eat something healthy. Everything either takes to much prep time, or needs to be carefully handled or disposed of so it doesn t make a smell at work (such as apples or bananas)

I thought berries might be the answer, but I discovered I can t really eat berries. Same goes for citrus fruits (grapefruits, oranges,) or anything in the honeydew family, (like most melons)

Vegetables, such as celery or carrots are so bitter, I d rather feel hungry all day.

So is there anything else left to eat that s as easy to eat as junk?

  • Why does exercising make feel so awful?

I need to start exercising, because let's face it, I don't. I know everyone says how they energized they feel after, but I've never felt that my whole life. All I've ever felt from it is tired and miserable.

It doesn't boost my energy levels at all, not now, not later. In fact, it just makes it impossible to get through the day. After a workout, my eyes are tearing, and all I want to do is go back to bed.

  • Is there a generic term for stalagmites and stalactites?

I'm writing a story. In it, there are stalagmites and stalactites. Is there generic way to mention them? Because mentioning them both all the time seems awkward.

  • What's too scary for a teen's book?

I want to write horror similar to the kind of horror for teens I grew up with (April fools, the Invitation, when the phone rang, the face on the milk carton, the fog, The fun house, the baby sitter and so on.)

But it's been awhile since I was this age. And I know kids have changed a little. What's Considered too scary or crossing the line for this age group?

  • Looking for a book named the fog...?

When I was kid int he late 80's, early 90's, I read a book called the Fog. It was about two 16 year old girls and the kindly old couple that were literally driving them mad.

I'd like to re-read it and see if it was as good as I remember. But I can't find it. there are too many books called 'the fog' and none of them is the one I'm looking for.

I don't know who wrote it, published it, the year it came out or anything.

Does anyone know what book I'm talking about?

  • Should I refer to my one of my characters as a he or a she?

It Sounds like an odd question, I know. However one of the two main characters dresses up like a man, even though she's really a woman. She also goes by a man's name.

The point of view character knows this. However I'm not sure if the point of view character would refer to this person as a he or she. Your thoughts?

  • Where should my story be set?

SO I'm writing a story set in 1890, America, Not England. It's in the south. (Not the deep south)

One of the characters is rich, but I'm not sure if it should be from farming or some other industry.

This of course effects the location, and how far from the nearest neighbor.

I'm not finding much in terms of town layout for this time that aren't frontier towns or cities .

    Thoughts?

  • how do introduce readers to my stories time period?

I'm writing a story set in 1890's. there are a few hints of that in the book, (i mention the new silhouette, the introduction of jeans,) but I never come right out and say the book is set in 1890.

How do I establish that without coming right out and saying it?

  • how do you handle dialogue in period pieces?

I'm writing a story that is set in 1890. My question is, should I have the characters talk they way they would have then or they way they do now?

We use different words for things now. (example: s.e.x. instead of fornication) And would it ever be acceptable for a Victorian character to say 'ok'?
